**Bergaptene free: the bergaptene content which causes photosensitivity has been removed. This allows the Bergamot to be used in skin and hair care formulations without concern for phototoxicity. That being said, I would still treat this oil as phototoxic–a lesser degree than others, but please use on the safe side when using in sun, tanning beds etc.
**Analgesic: inhibits the sensation of pain, antinociceptive–blocks the sensation of pain
**Anti-inflammatory: known to reduce inflammation
**Anti-spasmodic: relax smooth muscle and vasorelaxant. Great for muscle spasms.
**Anti-bacterial: used in folk medicine to treat infection–works well combined with other oils
**Anti-fungal: very active in killing off fungus, especially candida
**Carminative: known to help relieve gas and support digestion
**Cooling: cooling to the skin and beneficial for skin infections. Also helps to relieve topical itch and irritiation
**Anti-depressant: can help relieve psychological stress responses and cortisol levels–beneficial to blend with Ylang Ylang and Lavender. Also benefical to blend with Lavender and Frankincense to ease pain and depression in cancer patients.
**Emotional: very uplifting. Useful for insomnia and anxiety. Relaxing, calming–can help diffuse anger and frustration.
Suggestions: Add to cream, massage blends, diffuser, sprays, aromatherapy inhalers
Safety: Even though bergaptene has been removed, trace amounts can still appear. Therefore, treat this oil as if Phototoxic – Avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds for up to 18 hours after applying Bergamot to the skin. (Concern is for topical areas of skin that oil is applied, no concern for areas that are covered and away from sunlight). Do not use on the skin undiluted. Dangerous burning to the skin can occur if applied and the skin is exposed to the sun or a tanning booth.
If oxidized, Bergamot essential oil may cause skin irritation or sensitization. Store in cool, dry place and use within shelf life of oil. Age and exposure to air can cause oxidation.
Available in 5ml and 15ml euro dropper bottles. 100% essential oil.
